The Master Watershed Stewards (MWS) Youth Program, Spring 2013, consists of Coos Bay high school students addressing habitat enhancement and community leadership in the Pony Creek watershed. Pony Creek is an urban tributary draining directly to the Coos estuary. Students are removing invasive plants, planting native trees, and learning about local ecology and stewardship practices. High school studens are also helping younger students learn about Pony Creek and engaging the community in volunteer stewardship. The program is hosted by Coos Watershed Association, OSU Extension, and Marshfield High School. Spring 2013 support comes from Together Green, a partnership of National Audubon Society and Toyota. Additional support comes from Plum Creek Corporation.
